MooRahHoh! (Hello) My fellow cohorts, have this insane idea that I am going to learn a song in Kinyarwanda. Ya, right. Me, who can’t carry a tune in a bucket, singing in front of a hundred ladies to a melody I don’t recognize in a language I can’t speak. But I guess every great performer begins somewhere. LOL. I can see this is going to be two weeks filled with “firsts”.
Things are progressing. I can no longer be accused of being “Typhoid Mary” as I got my shots. I was pleasantly surprised that I only needed two. I’m also armed for malaria and “Rwandan Revenge.”
I told my partners that I really wouldn’t need three suitcases. Uh huh. Yesterday I brought home two large boxes of scissors for the sewing school. That will fill part of a suitcase. We also take gifts to the children sponsored by Summitt Church, teaching materials, clothing, and additional gifts for the staff of the guest house.
Yes, I will be staying in a guest house. I know some of you were expecting a tent in the jungle… sorry to disappoint. I am not a camper person. My idea of camping is the Holiday Inn.
The tickets are paid for thanks to all of you who generously supported my trip. Gratitude for all you have done brings me to tears. We will leave on Thursday, April 11th, for a short hop to Salt Lake City, then on to Amsterdam (nearly 11 hours in the air), where we have one hour to change planes. You might want to pray about that! From there, it’s an additional eight hours to Kigali.
Usually coveting the window seat, this time I opted for an aisle. For purely practical reasons… easier to get to the bathroom and take an occasional break from my chair. Also, it will be dark so I couldn’t see much anyway. I’m sure I will be wired and not sleep much… but who knows.
Oh June praying for you and the ladies to stay healthy and safe and that God will bless you for blessing others! Love you♥️♥️♥️
Excited for you, June! You've probably been given all the advice you need (like, wear compression knee length socks!) Prayers for your health, energy and stamina along with Grace-filled travel, ministry and fellowship.
